MRS. W.F. LEARN DIED SUDDENLY-
Funeral Services Were Held On Monday Afternoon. Interment At Mount Hope.

"Death came swiftly and mercifully to Mrs. W.F. Learn, age 77 years, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy R. Carter, last Friday evening.

She had apparently been in her usual good health during the day and was ill only a few minutes before her death. For the past several years she has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Carter.

Carrie Alice, the daughter of Cyrus and Sarah Merriam, was born at Unionville, Ind., August 29, 1861 and departed this life at Mound City March 10, 1939, having reached the age of 77 years, 6 months and 9 days.

In 1880 on March 30 she was united in marriage to Willard F. learn. To this union 7 children were born, tying in infancy. For 11 years they lived in Lincoln, Neb., and in 1895ey moved to Mound City which remained their home until death. In 1927 on January 6 her life was saddened by the death of her husband. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 half brother.

In childhood Mrs. Learn united with the Presbyterian Church and in later life transferred her membership to the Methodist Church.

She leaves to mourn 5 children, Roy E. Learn, Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Roy Carter, Catherine M. learn, Mrs. H.C. Aeby and Mrs. A.E. Arnold, all of Mound City; ; 9 grandchildren; Mrs. Ben Elliott and Audrey Aeby, Santa Fe, Mexico; Elizabeth Learn, Fort Worth; Doris Carter, Richard, Max and Albert Arnold, Jack and Joan Aeby, all of Mound City; also a brother-in-law, Seymour Learn, who had made his home with them since their marriage; two half-sisters, Mrs. W.P. Lloyd, Unionville, Ind., and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other friends.

Funeral services were held at the Pettijohn & Crawford funeral home Monday afternoon, March 13 at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Fred J. Nold. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery."
