James C. Willits, 76, formerly of 4903 50th Ave., Moline, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at Parkview Health Care Center, East Moline.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Military graveside services will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. James C. Willits was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Davenport, the son of Corwin Lee and Manila Bay Quinn Willits. He married Helyn A. Lum Oct. 27, 1947, in Cambridge.He retired in 1973 as a maintenance person at the former Lutheran Hospital, Moline, after 20 years of service.He was an Army veteran of WW II.He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Moline.Survivors include his wife, Helyn; sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce Willits, Minneapolis, Minn., and Rick and Dawn Willits, Moline; a son-in-law, Mike Lorang, Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Bonnie Spence and Eliza Spence, both of New Windsor. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bettie Willits-Lorang Dec. 23, 1996.
