She married Alvin L. Hawkins in Indianapolis, Indiana and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2013.
Jody graduated from Springs Valley High School and owned and operated Jodie's Beauty Shop in West Baden, Indiana. She was a member of St. Mary of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shoals and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary #732. "Grannie", as she was affectionately known by her family, was the truly the heart of her family. She was foremost concerned about her children and grandchildren, and she loved them unconditionally. She was humble and giving, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed her at any hour of the day or night.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Mark) Wininger of Shoals
One son, Floyd "Lonnie" (Kate) Hawkins of Shoals
Four grandchildren: Kyle (Raysha) Wininger; Logan Wininger; Jessie "Maelee" Hawkins; and Josephine "Josie" Hawkins. Two great-grandchildren, Kemily Wininger and Kyle Wininger, Jr.
One sister, Diane Norton of French Lick.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin, and one brother Charles R. Kirkland Jr.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shoals. Burial will be made in Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals.
