US Congressman. He graduated from Westminster College, in 1888 and taught school for several years. He graduated from the law department of the University of Missouri, in 1892, was admitted to the bar and practice law in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was city attorney of Warrensburg, (1893-95) and prosecuting attorney of Johnson County, (1895-96). Moving to Holden, Missouri, in 1897, he continued to practice law and was city attorney of Holden, (1899- 1900). In 1905, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-ninth Congress, serving until 1907. Unsuccessful for reelection, he served as president of the St. Joseph City police board in 1909, was city counselor of St. Joseph, Missouri, (1913-14), was prosecuting attorney of Lafayette County, (1921-25) and practiced law until his death at age 70.
