I am Jesse T. Ross, the oldest Grandson of Willie. I lived with him for a few years growing up, and I would like to share a little about him. Willie was only about 5`9`` tall but stocky and bull strong. Even up in his later years he could still crack walnuts bare handed. He would pick up 2 walnuts, work them around in his hand for a second and "crunch". Willie also had a way of telling a joke that would make you laugh even if the joke wasn't really funny. He told me, if you ever have 2 wives, make sure they both have the same first names! It may save you a lot of problems! Ha ha ha...

Willie had a pretty hard life, he worked for a company in New Albany for 20+ years paying into a company pension fund. The company forced all the workers that had been there for over 20 years to retire. Then never paid them their retirement money. After that Willie worked at Bert Huncilman`s for a few years, which is also in New Albany. Then he worked for the Bell Telephone company, and also as a night watchman for Thorns. He loved baseball and was a Braves fan, starting back in the old Boston Braves days, then Milwaukee and lastly Atlanta. He smoked non filtered Camel cigarettes, and always had in some dip. He also took a little Falls City and Yellowstone trip from time to time to relieve the pressure. But it all finally caught up to him. His index finger and thumb were yellow on the ends, and hard as a rock from smoking. He also suffered from Alzheimer`s pretty bad his last few years.

Rest in Peace, Papaw....
