Hazel Virginia Sharp, 84, a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014. She was a member of Jacksonburg Church of Christ and a kindergarten teacher at Mars Hill Bible School from the late 50s until the early 70s.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, from 10-11 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Gary Gooch and Steve Condra officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle W. Sharp, daughter, Doris Jean Sharp, parents, John and Marie Hart, brothers, Bill, Robert, Joe, and Howard Hart, and sisters, Louise and Mary.
She is survived by her son, Jerry W. Sharp and wife, Pam Holcombe Sharp, of Florence; daughter, Joyce Sharp Jordan and husband, Bill, of Montgomery; brother, Eugene Hart and wife, Edit,h of Florence; sister, June Stacey, of Florence; grandchildren, Erica Volentine, of Florence, and David E. Dunn II of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Volentine and Graci Williams; sisters-in-law, Wilma and Nina Hart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be nephews Jimmy Mansell, Buck Robertson, Kenny Rogers, Greg Hart, Larry Sharp, and Gregg Sharp.
Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons at Jacksonburg Church of Christ.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Thomas Spence and Georgina Hayes of Hospice Advantage and the Palliative Care Unit at ECM Hospital. Also to the Jacksonburg Church family, the staff at Green Oaks Inn, and Mitchell-Hollingsworth.
