Wyatt W. Edwards, 77, of Prairie Village, Kan., formerly of Strasburg and Brewster, died Monday, May 6, 2002, in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness.

He was born in Leon, W.Va., on June 5, 1924, to the late Ray and Christia (Plants) Edwards and had lived most of his life in Brewster and Strasburg, moving to Kansas in October of 2001. He retired in 1984 from the former Norfolk and Southern Railroad in Brewster and was a member of Cypress Lodge 604 F&AM in Strasburg, Scottish Rite of Canton and Strasburg United Methodist Church.

On June 12, 1944, he married Mary L. Kate, who survives. Also surviving is a son, three grandchildren, and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Styer, and a brother, Harley Edwards.

Funeral services was held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Burial is in the East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home where Masonic services will be conducted at 5:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
