Caroline, 84, of Spencer, died at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
She was born at her home at 811 Fourth Street in Spencer, the daughter of Ollie Blume Crowell of Cabarrus County and Marvin E. Crowell of Stanley County. She was educated in the Spencer School System, graduating from Spencer High School in 1936. She attended Salisbury Business College in 1937 and earned her B.A. Degree from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC in 1941. Later in life, she received continuing education at Davidson College and Duke University. She was married for 64 years to her surviving husband, Rev. Roy Edison Bell, Sr., retired United Methodist minister of Spencer, NC. She was employed by the Mecklenburg, Iredell and Rowan County School Systems for 18 years as an elementary school teacher. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. A devoted mother, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Marvin Edward Bell, in 1991. Survivors include sons, Roy Edison Bell, Jr. of Concord, NC, David Crowell Bell of Raleigh, NC, and John Clyde Bell of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Audrey Bell Haynes of Tampa, FL, Amber Suzanne Bell of New York, NY, Lee Graham Bell of Raleigh, NC, Michael William Bell of Tampa, FL, and John Tabor Bell of Raleigh, NC.
