Roger J. Buddy Hunter, of Hingham, died July 9, 2014. Buddy proudly served his country as a sergeant with the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was always a patriotic man and loved his country. He enjoyed reading the paper, going to the beach, and watching college football on Saturdays. His number one passion in life, however, was his family. He would say he was ahead of his time being such a hands on dad to his children, from PTA meetings to chaperoning field trips. Many described him as the most polite man in the world. His generosity and love for his family, friends, and neighbors will never be forgotten. Cherished son of the late John A. and Mary A. (Doherty) Hunter of Hingham. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (Sullivan) Hunter of Hingham. Devoted father of Mary Ann Hunter of Hingham, Joann Keith of Weymouth, and Patrick Hunter of Alexandria, Va. Loving brother to the late John Hunter and also to Grace Conway, Eleanor Christopher, and Elizabeth McGeorge. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 10 -11 a.m. in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Pauls Church, Hingham. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in memory of Roger may be made to Hingham Veterans in Need Fund, Attn: Veterans Council, 210 Central Street Hingham, MA 02043.
