Obituary...Louis A. "Louie" Schreiner

Louis Albert Schreiner, II, husband, father, rancher and friend, died unexpectedly on April 13, 2001 of a heart attack. Louie, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on October 4, 1959 and was one of the great-grandchildren of Captain Charles Schreiner, the Texas Ranger, merchant, banker and founder of the YO Ranch.

Louie was acting General Manager and a driving force behind the YO Ranch as well as a Texas real estate broker. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Finance in 1981 and from Texas Christian University School of Ranch Management in 1982. Louie was widely recognized as a leader in the auction, hunting and private sale of exotic wildlife. As director of the Texas Wildlife Association, he established the TWA Youth Hunt. He was a director of the Exotic Wildlife Association, and founded the Apprentice Hunters Program during his service as a board member of Safari Club International. He was a director of YO Land & Cattle Co. and Woodbury Taxidermy. While Louie enjoyed hunting, fishing and nothing brought him more pleasure than coaching his sons and their friends in team sports. He was director, fund raising chairman and coach of the Kerrville Little League, and a Kerr County YMCA football coach.

Louie was a member of First Presbyterian Church In Kerrville and various organizations including the San Antonio German Club, the Order of the Alamo Las Cazadores, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, Riverhill Country Club and San Antonio Country Club.

Louie is survived by his loving wife, Chrisie; three sons, Louis Griffin Schreiner, Lee Barton Schreiner and Luke Phillips Schreiner; his father, Charles Schreiner III and stepmother, Karol; his brothers and sisters-in-law Charles Schreiner, IV and Mary Helen, Walter R, Schreiner and Teri and Gus L. Schreiner and Lori; stepsister, Deborah James and her husband, Marty; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Jeannette Sitterle; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Karen Sitterle, Steve and Sharon Straus, Bill and Lorie Oliver and Pete and Andrea Sitterle; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many more family members and friends. Louie was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Phillips Schreiner.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at First ‘Presbyterian Church. Interment followed at the YO Ranch. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Drs.: Greg McKenzie, David Sprouse and Jim Ferguson and the doctors and staff of the intensive care unit of Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made in honor of Louie to the Kerrville Little League.
