She attended local schools and was graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1939, where she received the Alpha Xi Delta Cup.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, John B. Dixon.
Together they owned and operated Dixon's Super Duper Markets in Claremont and Newport, and founded the Jiffy Mart Convenience Store Chain which operated stores in New Hampshire and Vermont. When her husband became president of the New Hampshire Retail Grocers Association, she became a valued assistant to the association. They retired in the mid 1980's and spent winters in Fort Myers, Florida.
Janet was a member of the Quota Club and enjoyed reading, sports and traveling. She was a die hard Red Sox fan and enjoyed Bruins Hockey and Patriots Football.
She is survived by her three children, J. Barry Dixon and wife Rebecca of Meredith, Mary Ann Estabrook and husband Thomas of Bedford, and Catherine Anthony and her husband John of Westbrook, ME; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Internment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
