James Benjamin Klutts, longtime resident of Knox City, Texas passed away Wednesday morning, July 16, 2014, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Mr. Klutts was 79. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2014, at Foursquare Church in Knox City with Rev. Gary Schnable, Rev. J.C. Amburn, and Rev. Dennis Duke officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services in Knox County Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Thursday evening, July 17 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 210 Avenue A.

James was born August 28, 1934, in Palestine, Texas to Thelma Lois (Rogers) and Joe Leon Klutts. James married Rose "Jimmie" Klutts on June 20, 1975, in Durant, Oklahoma. He is a retired heavy equipment operator with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Thelma Klutts,3 brothers, and one sister.

James is survived by his wife of over 39 years, Rose "Jimmie" Klutts of Knox City, Texas; son, Joe Klutts and wife Brenda of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters, Lois Keith and husband Terry of Haskell, Texas and Barbara Gene Klutts of Mill Creek, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, Janin, Barbie, Joe Ross, John, Amanda, Irene, Eddie, Jason, Michelle, Kristin, Crystal, and Johnathon; 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and "one on the way." Serving as pallbearers are John Klutts, Terry Keith, Dicky McCanles, Charles Griffith, Chad Rainwater, and Tracy Cartwright.
