R. C. (Rube) Veazey, a native of Chambers County passed away in a Chattanooga hospital last Saturday, October 4. Mr. Veazey was 67 years of age, and had served as a member of the Chattanooga Street Department prior to retirement. A veteran of World War I, the deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtis Scarbrough Veazey; daughter, Mrs. Margaret Anne Cass; son, Randolph C. Veazey, all of Chattanooga; two brothers; G. A. Veazey, Attalla, Ala.; six grandchildren and two nieces. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Elmo Baptist Church, Chattanooga, the Rev. McKnight Fite and the Rev. Frank Ziegler officiating. Cemetery services and burial were at 3 p.m. CST in LaFayette, conducted' by the Revs. Charles Homes, Jr. and C. C. Sanders. Active pallbearers were H. S. Patterson, K. O. Kiger, R. C. McCoy, T. S. Page, D. H. Malone, William M. Brown, H. R. McLaughlin, Sr., and M. A. Lyle. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Mens Bible Class, of No. 14 Firehall and Commissioner Pat Wilcox, Leslie H. Templeton, James H. Templeton, E. M. Baker and Robert Orrell, Sr.
