Jack Edward Haynes

Mr. Jack Edward Haynes, age 86, of Lynwood Drive in Sandersville, died Saturday, July 19th, 2014, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21st at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian of Sandersville with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Doug Ivey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Haynes, Gary Haynes, Mack Walters, Sandy Veal, Allen Hodges, Chris Hutchens, Wyman Hodges, Billy Kelly, Ben Jones, Freddie Lovett and Aubin Willis.

Mr. Haynes was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Alfred I. Haynes and the late Marie Orr Haynes. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Henderson and a recipient of the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Haynes also served in the Georgia National Guard. He spent his working career with the US Postal Service and he was an active member of the First Christian Church of Sandersville where he served as a Deacon and was the church Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He is predeceased by his wife Echlyn Walters Haynes and his son Larry Errol Haynes.

Survivors are; his daughter, Maria Haynes Anders and her husband Ken of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Jason Smith and his wife Jennifer of Dawsonville, Layla Haynes Boyd and her husband Kyle of Harlem, Trey Smith and Daniel Smith both of Milledgeville; step granddaughters, Elizabeth Anders, Nora Anders and Kelly Anders all of Wooster, Ohio; great-grandchildren Luke Smith, Dallas Boyd, Dylan Boyd and Kylie Boyd; step great granddaughters Zoe Anders and Chyenne Anders; and his sister Louise H. Kelly and her husband Billy of Louisville, GA.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
