George E. Bennett, Jr., 89, of Westport, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty A. (Cockcroft) Bennett. Born in Fall River, son of the late George E. Bennett, Sr. and the late Hazel G. (Poole) Bennett he had been a resident of Westport for most of his life. Mr. Bennett was a laborer for various textile companies in the area and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two sons: Alan G. Bennett and wife Mary Beth of Taunton and Gary W. Bennett and wife Debra of Somerset; three daughters: Jo-Ann Willett and husband David of Dracut, Lori-Ann Harris and husband John of Dighton and Lisa-Ann Klein and husband Robert of Somerset; a sister: Ann Elizabeth Blakely of FL; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; grandfather of the late: Bryan Willett and brother of the late Marjorie Blakely and Faith Fisher.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport. Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
