Donald Ray Stewart, 67, of Ponca, NE passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Don was surrounded by his loving family while fighting a short battle with cancer.

Don was born February 8, 1947, the son of Mahlon and Carmen Stewart, and brother to Marlon, Jerald, Paul and Den Stewart of Waterbury, NE. He was a welder by trade. He also built many homes on properties he developed. His ultimate dream was realized with the construction of Stewart's Horse Haven. Don had a love and passion for horses. He loved to share that passion with others and reveled in exposing new people to horses.

Don leaves behind a daughter, son, and a large loving family that will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Christ The King Community Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Joe Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in rural Allen, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to local 4-H Clubs.

We would like to thank Mercy Medical Center, especially the nurses on the 7th floor for the compassion and tenderness they showed Don.
