Anita Brodie Ryan of Butte died peacefully Thursday at the home of her daughter, Rita Ryan Everstine, in Spokane, Wash., surrounded by her loving family.

Anita was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Washington, D.C., to Verna and Hubert Brodie. She married her childhood sweetheart, Tom Ryan in 1939 and they shared

50 years together, and had four beautiful daughters. Anita and Tom moved their family to Butte in 1970. Anita loved gardening, the daily crossword, and never missed an episode of Jeopardy.

She is eternally loved by her family, Tom Ryan (deceased 1990); daughters and spouses, Michael Ann Ryan (deceased 1955), Ruth and John Russell, Rita and Ed Everstine and Chris and Mark Partelow; grandchildren, Micheal and Mike Standen, Sean Mattingly, Moira and Jeff Leco, Josh and Angie Everstine, Sarah Everstine, Brian Everstine, Anita Kloepfel/Partelow, Daniel Kloepfel/Partelow and Skye Partelow; great-grandchildren, Corwin and Chloe Standen; sister, brothers and their spouses, Ruth Cooney, Steve Brodie (deceased 1945), Joan Wolstein, Jean and Bill Sweeney and Robert "Buzz" and Darlene Brodie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Anita will begin after 4 p.m. Wednesday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with vigil services at 6:30. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, proceeding to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials: Cancer Patient Care, 2507 E. Sprague Ave., Spokane, WA 99202 or to the Butte Rescue Mission.
