Sunrose for Nancy "Ruth" February 15, 1931, sunset September 19, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Mattie Jane and Jefferson Gillispie. At an early age Nancy "Ruth" dedicated her life to the Lord as a member of the East Graham Christian Church, Bluefield, VA. until its closing. She later joined and became a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Bluefield, VA where she served as president of the usher board and served on various other committees.
Nancy "Ruth" was a graduate of Genoa High School in Bluefield, WV serving passionately as co-captain of her cheerleading squad. Later in life she worked as a nurse aide at Bluefield Sanitarium Hospital for several years.
Nancy loved life, her family and people in general. She leaves behind a legacy of a true matriarch sharing her love with everyone she came in contact with. Her most favorite pastimes, before her illness, were watching sports especially football, shopping, and cooking those big meals for the family and friends who stopped by.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James R. Bradshaw Sr.; son James R. Bradshaw Jr.; sisters Gwendolyn Goforth, Yvonne Shanklin, Velma Bradshaw; brothers Robert and Donald Gillispie; and grandson Ronnell Mason Bradshaw.
Her beautifully lived life will be remembered by daughters Patricia Banks (Bill) of Bluefield WV, Carol Oakes (Van) of Bluefield, VA; sons Earl Leon Bradshaw (Yvette) of Bluefield, VA, Clifton "Chuck" Bradshaw of Suitland, MD; (13) grandchildren, (29) great-grandchildren and (2) great-great grandchildren; sisters Marie Hurt of Bluefield, WV, Betty Jean Sales of Dayton, OH, Barbara Martin and Mattie Jane Gillispie both of Bluefield, VA and a host of relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be conducted today (Monday), September 23, 2013 at 12 Noon from the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Bluefield, VA with the Rev. Michael Bratton officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, WV.
