A memorial service for Rita Henderson, 74, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Tyler with Rev. Pike Wisner officiating. Private burial will precede the service under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Henderson passed away, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Tyler. She was born December 20, 1936 in Daingerfield, Texas to Noble Hart and Faye Porter Moore. Mrs. Henderson was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a choir member for over fifty-five years. She also served in many other positions during that time. She attended Daingerfield Independent Schools, married the love of her life, Bill (Coach), and moved to Tyler in 1958. Rita was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Honey". Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and friends. She was very proud to be a cancer survivor for the past seven years. Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Curtis Moore. She was dearly loved by her family including her husband of 56 years, William Henderson; sons, Plez Henderson and son Carson of Southlake, Bruce Henderson, his wife Jan and their children Julia, Emily, Sarah and Hanna, of Dallas, David Henderson, his wife Melissa and their son Joshua of Tyler; daughter, Kay Bowman, her husband Jolyon and their children Will, Ben and Sam of Tyler. Visitation will follow the memorial service at First Baptist Church in Tyler. Memorials in honor of Rita Henderson may be made to The American Lung Association, 800 E.
