Merlin George Doll,
79 year, of Paradise Valley,
Ariz., died May 10, 2007, in
Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was born in Omaha,
Neb., May 15, 1927, to Ella
and George Doll. He was a
graduate of Tech High School
and served during World War
II in the United States Navy.
He married Edith Parr in
September 1953. His beer
sales and wholesaling career
spanned over 50 years starting with Storz Brewery as a
territory sales manager, to
founding his own beer distributing company in 1962
with his wife, Edith in Hastings, Neb., representing the
beers of Anheuser Bush Company, St. Louis, Mo. He purchased the Council Bluffs distributing company in 1965.
Merlin was a pioneer in the
beer delivery system, developing a side loader trailer.
Merlin retired from Doll Distributing Company in 1987.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Edith, January
23, 1983. Merlin married
Sharri Hickerson, June 4,
1988.
Survivors include his wife,
Sharri; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Mary Jane
Doll, Mark and Julia Doll;
Scott and Liz Doll, Jay and
Laura Doll; daughter and
son-in-law, Tami and Rick
Van Sant; 11 grandchildren;
Sharri's daughters, Nikki
Easley and husband, Matt,
Jami Hickerson; sister, Virginia Modhorst.
Funeral service will be
Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at the
Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel,
7805 West Center Rd.,
Omaha, Neb. Interment will
be at Calvary Cemetery with
full military honors by Benson VFW #2503. The family
will receive friends, Tuesday
5:00-8:00 p.m. at the West
Center Chapel. Memorials
may be made to the Hospice
of Southwest Iowa, a partnership between Alegent
Health-Mercy Hospital and
the Visiting Nurse Association of Pottawattamie
County.
