Young, Valerie M., PhD, 62, passed away July 9, 2014, at home.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Valerie graduated from Wagner High School in 1969, attended Vanderbilt University, and continued her education to receive her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.

Valerie is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Fanelli Young, and is survived by her father.

She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, many loving cousins and extended family members and devoted friends.

Valerie was grateful for her many friendships and the love in her life, as well as many blessings and small miracles.

She loved singing, playing Celtic harp, and playing piano and percussion in her band, Keltricity. She also loved her work in the world, assisting people to heal on the level of the soul, and practicing shamanism, as taught to her by Spirit, as well as being a ShadowWork and Family Constellations facilitator. She was one of the founders of the local Woman Within Community, Woman to Woman, Kentuckiana. Valerie walked a path of peace and love of the earth.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville, or the Young Family Foundation, a foundation committed to supporting alternative health care.
