Mr. John Taylor Puckett, age 89 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on October 14, 1924 to the late Bennie Robert Puckett, Sr. and Bessie Goad Puckett. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by a daughter, Eva Vaught; a sister, Ruby Hall; and four brothers, Joseph Puckett, Leonard Puckett, Bill Puckett and Benny Robert "Bobby" Puckett, Jr. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was retired from United Elastic. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice Banks Puckett of the home; a son, Johnnie Puckett of Stuart; a son-in-law, Keith Vaught of Stuart; two grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Vaught of Bethesda, Maryland and Kenneth Vaught, and wife, Vanessa of Claudville; two great-grandchildren, Ithaca and Willow Vaught; two brothers, Paul Puckett and David Puckett and wife, Warnders all of Stuart; and two sisters, Ann Pendleton and husband, John of Stuart and Ruth Clark of Bassett.
Funeral services for Mr. Puckett will be held Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Dan Royo and Pastor Alan Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Puckett Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
