Joe Calvin Bates, 89, of Ward died July 17, 2014. He was born October 19, 1924 in Enola to the late Jesse Thomas and Annice Little Bates and was raised in El Paso.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife of 62 years, Mable Christeen Bruton Bates; a grandson, Taylor Keck; a son-in-law, David Eddy; seven sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Bates is survived by three children, Chester (Linda) Myers of Cabot, Gladys Eddy of Ward and Barbara Cooper of Cabot; a son-in-law, Carlos Munoz of Little Rock; nine grandchildren, Terry Keck, Rhonda Eddy, Gina Gunderman, Joey Eddy, Johanna Wheetley, Amanda Munoz, Samantha Copeland, Claudia Lamb and Carla Munoz and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 18 at
Moores Cabot Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
