H.B. Alexander, age 80, of Saluda, NC., died Friday morning July 17, 2009.

He was a native of Chester, S. Carolina and a prior resident of Charleston, S. Carolina before moving to Saluda in 1991. He served his undergraduate studies at the Citadel, majoring in English and earned his Masters Degree at Duke University. He was an English professor at the Citadel in Charleston, S. Carolina for over thirty years retiring in 1991.

He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cam; son, Scott Alexander and his wife, Carolyn of Wahalla, SC. and a grandson, Bruce Alexander also of Wahalla, South Carolina.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm , Monday, July 20, 2009 at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel with the Reverend Bill Landreth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. Military Rites will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77, Hedrick Rhodes VFW Post #5206 Chapter #14 of the DAV.
