Helen Adams, age 96, of Abingdon, Virginia, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 in the home of her daughter Shirley Adams Hines of Weaverville.
She was born December 20, 1912 in Detroit, Michigan, and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Barbara Hintyes of Detroit. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Alton William Adams, and infant son, and a daughter, Marilyn Avery. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville.
Survivors include daughters, Willa Dee Martin of Abingdon, VA and Shirley Adams Hines of Weaverville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville with Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. Entombment will take place at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
