Born in Detroit on July 4, 1927, he was a son of the late Ford R. & Lulu V. (Smith) Lamb. He graduated from Pinckney High School and then Michigan State University with a degree in Industrial Arts. He taught Shop and Mathematics at the high school and Industrial levels. He worked in the sales and service industry until he started his own company, Sherwood Industries. He was president and CEO of this design and machinery manufacturing company that employed 22 people until his retirement in 1992, then moving to the U.P. Ross was a member of the Sharonville Ohio Masonic Lodge of F & A Masons #0204. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf and he was a member of the Newberry Country Club. Besides his parents, Ross is preceded in death by his brothers William, Gordon, and Ford, Jr., and his sister June.
Survivors include his wife Alice of Curtis, Son and daughter-in-law Thomas (Janice) of Howell; daughters and son-in-law Rebecca (Marc) Shima of Reno, NV and Bonnie Thompson of Seney; and his brother James. Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren with another expected soon, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins..
According to his wishes, cremation has already occurred. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled and will be held at Germfask United Methodist Church in Germfask on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ian McDonald officiating. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to services.
