Obit: Robert Graham Buchanan, 83, retired Ohio County farmer and a resident of West Alexander since 1921, died at his home on Maple Ave Thursday, 16 Jul 1942 at 10 pm. Mr Buchanan was born 22 Nov 1858 on the old Buchanan homestead that his ancestors settled shortly after the Revolutionary War. He was prominent in farm circles of Ohio County until his retirement. He was the son of James and Sarah Graham Buchanan. He was active in the affairs of the Presbyterian church and served as an elder for 41 years.
He was married to Henrietta Jane McCleery, to which union was born 4 daughters and a son. The son Lester died in 1918, Mrs Susie Neale in 1926 and Mrs Irene Lingamfelter in 1940. Surviving are Mrs Mary Cul__ of Pittsburgh and Mrs Florence White with whom he made his home. A sister, Mrs Margaret Abercrombie, of Wilkinsburg, as well as 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren survive. Funeral services were held in the home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the pastor Rev Ralph Kaufman, assisted by the Rev T Homer Smith of the Methodist church. Interment was in the family burial grounds in the West Alexander Cemetery.
