Donna Joan Nelson was born on the family farm near Havens on March 27, 1931 to Roy Ramsey Nelson and Gladys Adelson Nelson. She attended country school District 61 and later graduated from Clarks High School. On August 29, 1948 she married Theodore Ted Samuel Wyman. They started farming in the rural Osceola area, and later moved to the Fairview area. In 1957, Ted bought the Schuster farm where they later built their new home.
Joan and Ted were blessed with four children: Janea Susan, Thomas Theodore, Mark Jeffrey, and Gayle Christine. In 1990 they retired to Silver Creek. Joan worked various jobs with the elderly, but dedicated her life to charitable acts for all ages. She enjoyed traveling. Two separate European vacations to celebrate anniversaries and a trip to Kodiak, Alaska to visit a granddaughter held special memories. Joan was active in her church, Bible studies, and various clubs. Ted and Joan celebrated 65 years of marriage last August.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Janea. Survivors include husband, Ted, her brother, Max (Nina) Nelson of Columbus; sister, Jean Wilhelmy of Lincoln; children/grandchildren: Tom and Martha (Read) of Papillion / John Wyman (wife, Breanne) of Reston, VA and Rachel Wyman Dawson (husband, Matthew) of Beaufort, NC; Mark and Mary (Small) / Matthew Wyman, Andrea Wyman, and Curtis Wyman all of Silver Creek; Gayle and Bob Coffin of York / Taylor Coffin of Birmingham, AL, Conner Coffin, and Jackson Coffin of York; great-grandson, Tobias Wyman, son of John & Breanne.
