NORFOLK, VIRGINIA

Ann Goffigon Brewbaker, 90, of the 7300 block of Colony Point Road, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Born in Cape Charles, VA, she was the daughter of the late William John Goffigon and Madge Wilkins.Goffigon. She was also predeceased by her husband of fifty-five years, John Joseph Brewbaker, Jr.; a sister, Marguerite Goffigon Jennings; two brothers, Eugene Kay Goffigon and Franklin Nathaniel Goffigon.

Ann graduated from Eastville High School in 1941, continuing her education at Norfolk Business College, receiving a diploma in Secretarial and Business Administration. She also attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary, now ODU. Ann was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was an active member of Elizabeth River Woman's Club since 1964, serving as President from 1969-1970. In 1967-1968 she served as President of Granby Elementary School PTA. She was a former member of Norfolk-Virginia Beach Executive Club. Ann was also a member of the Colony Point Circle, Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Ann Brewbaker Perry-Price and husband Dan; a son, John Joseph Brewbaker III; a granddaughter, Ashley Perry Powell and husband Travis; a grandson, James "Jimmy" William Brewbaker all of Chesapeake; sisters Esther Goffigon Maxey of Hopewell, Virginia, Carolyn Winburn Goffigon of Jacksonville, Florida, and Reba Goffigon of Richmond, Virginia; and a brother, Harold Thomas Goffigon of Cheriton, Virginia.

The interment will be private in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1600 Colonial Avenue, Norfolk, VA. Rev. Jack Howell will officiate.

A reception will follow the service at the home of her son, John Brewbaker. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102.

The family would like to offer sincere gratitude to Lake Taylor Transitional Care and Annie Morala for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Brewbaker over the last year.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Great Bridge Chapel, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.


I shall always remember, the beautiful spirit, elegant, faithful and compassionate person that was Ann Goffigon Brewbaker. She was a devoted person to her family, a loving Mother and Grandmother. Sleep with the other Angels...until we meet again. God Bless.
