Harold R. "Harry" Affeldt, age 83, of Sartell. Harry passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at his home with family by his side.

Placement of the urn will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls with military honors.



Harry was born on December 5, 1930 in Max, North Dakota to William and Olga (Schlenker) Affeldt. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1948 until 1952 as a Corpsman at Bethesda Hospital in Maryland and also on the U.S.S. Midway. After he was discharged from the service he came back to Bismark, North Dakota to complete his education in Radiologic Technology.

Harry married Beatrice N. Bergo on July 11, 1954 in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. He worked in radiology his entire career, retiring as Director of Radiology at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post # 428 and the Waite Park Lion's Club.

Harry enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading, camping, traveling, sports, and was an all-around handyman. He treasured all the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice; children, Marilee (Del) Rose of Bloomington, Bill (Cheri) Affeldt of Monticello, Jdee (Gary) Rueter of Rochester, Christine (Brent) Olson of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Hanna, Gabe, Jon, Matthew, Alison, Tyler, Jenna, and Carly; one great-grandson, Nolan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
