He was a graduate of the CY100 Class and earned Associate Degree in Computer Science. He was a member of Elks and Moose Lodges.

Survived by his wife Joan of 51 years; sons: Brian, Melbourne, Australia; Gary (Erika), Cockeysville, MD; brothers: Bill (Yvette), Beckley, WV; James (Ginger), Pisgah Forest, NC; Kermit (Rhonda), Grandy, NC.
Services at Glenns Bay Baptist Church, Surfside Beach, SC Saturday, July 19, 2014 and burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.
