Laura J. Kostecki Howe, 38, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:33 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born January 23, 1975 in Granite City, a daughter of Edward and Deborah (Portell) Kostecki of Granite City. She had worked with Pontoon Beach Police Department with many years of service as a dispatcher. She was a member of the Gastro Paresis support group and was a devoted and loving mother. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved parents, she is survived by her cherished children, Jaelon Duft, Stephen Howe, Brendan Howe and Nicholas Howe; husband, Stephen Howe; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Dominic Spiroff; grandparents, Dick and Emma Portell; niece, Breanna; two nephews, Gary and Peyton; her Godparents, Randy and Kathy Knox; many aunts; uncles; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparent, Ustine Kostecki. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Bob Sabo officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the GPD Foundation and may be accepted at the funeral home
