Melinda Jane Baker, 69, of Judsonia, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at home surrounded by family. She was born April 17, 1945 in Searcy to the late Cecil and Bertie (Pickens) Sterling. She was a retired mail carrier in Judsonia where she worked for 27 years. Her hobbies were sewing and anything that interested those she loved. Keeping her husband of 50 years, Ellis in line was a full time job, but she enjoyed every minute of it. Melinda was devoted to her family, she was an amazing care giver to her husband, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and any child that needed love.
She is survived by her son, Robert "Doc" Baker; a daughter, Robin Ann Pruitt; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and Vickie and Kenny Algood. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Ellis Baker, and a grandson, Delton Pruitt.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net
