Mrs. Sumner was a retired governess to the family of Dr. Ernie and Dr. Pauline Teagle. She attended the Gospel Assembly Church in Elkville, Illinois.
Verna Sumner died at the age of 86 in St. Joseph Hospital, Murphysboro, Illinois.
