Dates and locations of birth and death not certain.

Her age given in the 1776 census of Frederick County, MD, was 23, indicating a birth year of ~1753

No record of her death was known or place of her burial. But it now seems clear that the reason for this was that she had married Gillian Gary during the latter part of 1786.

A deed made by Gillian Gary to Abraham Brugh, Oct. 22, 1805, shows that his wife at that time was named Catherine.

Church records show that the first Catherine (Ankeny) was living in 1789, 1791, and 1792 on Jan. 5, when she and Gillian were witnesses at the christening of Margaretha, daughter of Julius Volte and Magdalena. Again she must have been living in 1799 as Gillian Gary and Catherine were witnesses at the marriage of Mary Grindle on July 16 of that year.

The date of her death was certainly after 1799, and probably late in 1805 or in 1806. The Grindle farm which Gary bought in 1801 and sold to Brugh in 1805 was probably at or near the present site of Trent, on the Laurel Hill Creek, and she may have died there. In that case she may have been buried at Barrons cemetery. It might be mentioned also that in 1805, after selling the tract to Brugh, Gillian bought 226 acres from William Seibert, adjoining the Walter farms, and this night indicate that Catherine Ankeny was still living at that time, and had arranged to live near her children. It is possible she may have died that year or the next, and have been buried in the family plot on the Walter farm as there are several graves near Michaels but the markers have so weathered that the inscriptions can no longer be read.
