Kathryn "Kurly" Avent Hamilton, 73, of Wilmington, NC passed away at her home Sunday, December 13, 2009.
Born December 5, 1936, in Franklin county, NC, she lived most of her life in the Raleigh area and attended East Carolina University. She was preceded in death by her parents Elbert and Thelma McGowen Avent and her first husband, Oliver Stallings. She is survived by a family she loved dearly, husband, William "Bill" Hamilton of the home; son, David Oliver Hamilton and wife, Robin, of Wilmington; two granddaughters, Ashley Hamilton and Brittany Hamilton, of Wilmington, NC; one step-granddaughter, Ashley Johnson of Wilmington, NC and one brother, Mack Avent and wife, Brenda, of Clayton, NC; and other cherished friends and family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 15, 2009, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Coble Ward-smith Funeral Home on Oleander Drive in Wilmington, NC and at other times at the home of David and Robin Hamilton, 514 Van Dorn Ct., Wilmington, NC. A graveside service will be held at Masonboro Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev Jim Everette officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wellcare Nursing Services of Wilmington for the loving and kind care they provided.
