James Wesley Garrison, 84, formerly of Girard and former Executive Director of SEK-CAP, passed away at 1:12 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg. He had been a resident of Medicalodge the past few years.

He was born May 22, 1930, at Brumley, MO, the son of Delbert and Bertie (Jeffries) Garrison.

He attended Pittsburg State University where he received his Master's Degree in Education.

Mr. Garrison served in the United States Army from February of 1952 until March of 1954 during the Korean War.

He was of the Nazarene Faith.

Membership was held in the Girard American Legion, Pittsburg Mirza Shrine and the Barber Shop Singers of America.

He is survived by two sons, Greg Garrison of Tokyo, Japan, and Jon Garrison of Dallas, TX, one daughter, Kimbra Beeman of Pittsburg, one sister, Sandra Bugni of Overland Park, KS, many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, some of whom he claimed as his "adopted" due to his enjoyment and love for babies and kids, and nieces and nephews galore who referred to him as "Big Unc."

Mr. Garrison is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert W. "Bob" Garrison, one sister, Avon Roberts, and Faye (Runnels) Garrison, mother of his children.
