Former Chesterton resident Webster Dale Burton Jr. died Friday, June 8, 2007, at his home in Florida.

He was born in 1942 in Gary, the son of Webster Dale and Annabelle (Pearson) Burton Sr. His mother survives in New Carlisle, Ind.

He is also survived by a son, John (wife Rhonda) of Barbeton, Ohio; a daughter, Anna Marie of Puyallup, Wash.; a brother, Carl (wife Linda) Burton of Chesterton; a sister, Anne (Paul) Bogda of New Carlisle; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents Elmer and Helen Pearson and Samuel and Ollie Burton, and a very special Aunt Ruth Ocobock.

Webster was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton and after graduating Chesterton High School in 1961 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps as part of the 25th Rifle Company and later volunteered to become a paratrooper with an airborne unit. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Inland Steel for 31 years.

Upon his retirement he made his home in Florida, where he purchased and managed a mobile home park.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
