MOFFAT — On Tue., April 14, 2009 Sarah Nell Albert, 98, passed away at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa, following an eight-month stay at The Bridge in Alamosa.

Nell was born Oct. 14, 1910 in Johnson County, Tenn. the youngest of the seven children born to William and Lucinda Lowe. Nell completed her schooling and continued in her education to receive her two-year teaching certificate. During the depression, she was a teacher in Tennessee. During her years of teaching, she met a young man from Moffat, Colorado, who was assigned to east Tennessee in the Civil Conservation Corps. After his term with the CCC, Otis returned to Moffat and the two corresponded by letter for about two years. In 1937, she packed her bags and rode the train to Colorado.

She and Otis were married August 18, 1937. They settled into a ranching business east of Moffat and raised their family. During Nell's time in the Valley, she was associated with numerous groups and organizations. She especially enjoyed her association with the Alamosa chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution. She was active in the Moffat Community Church for most of her married life and in later years the Crestone Baptist Church. She was involved in the local Ladies Aid, Home Demonstration Club and Crestone Craft Club. She served as a 4-H leader for several years. She was a Valley Courier and Saguache Crescent correspondent presenting local Moffat news to both papers.

She is survived by her children Charles (Judy) Albert of Durango, Colo., John Albert of Moffat and Mary (Ron) Pringle of West Plains, Mo; grandchildren Ethan Albert of Phoenix, Ariz, Luke Albert of Durango, Arthur Albert of Moffat, Aaron Pringle of West Plains, Greg Pringle of Little Elm, Texas and Sarah Pringle of West Plains as well as six great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and a grandson, Billey Albert.

Cremation was held at the Rogers Family Mortuary Crematory, and a memorial service will be held at 11 am Sat., April 18, 2009 at the Sangre de Cristo Christian Church, formerly known as the Crestone Baptist Church in Crestone.
