Josephine had a brother, Michael Korzen, who in 1903 was working in a coal mine in Olyphant, PA.

At age 36, Josephine died at home in Ludlow of Peritonitus, likely from a burst appendix, the pain from which she had been complaining for days, but her husband would not take her to the doctor.
