COVINGTON — Maurice "Mose" Lee Adams, age 88, lifetime resident of Covington, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, after suffering injuries from the accident on June 16.
Mose was born on April 6, 1926 in Covington, Ohio, to the (late) Arthur & Ruth (Erwin) Adams, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a well known potato farmer, who owned and managed Adams Potato Farm where he raised 40 acres of potatoes; worked at Westerville Creamery in Covington; and was a seed corn salesman for several years. He was a member of the Covington Eagles Aerie 3998; AMVETS, Post 66; Covington Newberry Historical Society; past member of the Miami County Fair Board; Covington Fire Police and Midwest Draft Horse & Mule Association.
He was a former 4-H adviser; and member of the Monday Night Bowling League; liked going out to eat; enjoyed his draft horses; fishing; collecting things, including antique tractors and hats; and he loved having his grandkids around.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Esther Adams, who passed June 16 in the accident; grandson, Chad Adams, and sister, Mione Lewis.
Mose is survived by his children and their spouses, Larry Lee and Alana Adams, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kathy and Joel Miller, of Covington, Kenny and Connie Adams, of Covington, and Annette and Tom Francis, of Fort Loramie; seven grandchildren, Jodi Adams, of Delaware, Ohio, Lucas Moyer, of Arcanum, Brandon and Christina Moyer, of Oak Harbor, Washington, Brittany Adams, of Covington, Logan and Jessica Adams, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Cletus and Holly Francis, of Piqua, and Sara and Brian Lawson, of Sidney; 14 great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Olivia, Keelin, Zoey, Eva, Austin, Allison, Madison, Mckenzie, Caiden, Kendale, Logan, Carter, and Cadence; brother, Arthur Q. Adams, of Vandalia; four sisters, Eileen Hollis, of South Dakota, Gladys Klotz, of Centerville, Virginia Moyer, of Florida, and Joan Denman, of Vandalia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Covington, with Pastor Phil Elmore officiating. Interment will follow Highland Cemetery, Covington.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
