Died
Mrs. Eliza A. Dutton departed this life near Oolagah, I.T., Dec. 23, 1904. She was born in Indiana, June 23, 1832; was converted and united with the Baptist church in 1847, has been an earnest Christian worker in the church ever since. She was married to Wm. Holden Dec, 24, 1848. To this union was born two children, one of whom is still living. Wm. Holden died in 1852. She was remarried to Rev. David Kirk, a Baptist minister. Six children were born to this union, all living except one, who is buried here. She moved as a widow to Kansas in 1869 and was married to Geo. Dutton April 16, 1873. One child was born to them. Geo. Dutton died Jan. 21, 1902. Since then she resided with her two sons, John and Edward. She leaves seven children, also twenty-eight grandchildren and other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. We most sincerely sympathize with them and can only say; weep not, only a few days and we will pass over to dwell with our dear ones where sickness, sorrow, pain and death are felt and feared no more. They are waiting at the portals with beckoning hands. Let us all be ready with our lamp all trimmed and bright. The funeral services were conducted from the home of her daughter Mrs. Wadman, 106 North 5th street, Sunday at 11 o'clock a.m. Text of the sermon: Psalms 35:14 by J.T. Farley, assistant pastor of the Bethel Baptist church.
