Otis "Chunk" Rodgers, 84, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on July 14, 2014 at Stone County Medical Center. Otis was born on December 12, 1929 to John B. and Dora (Rogers) Rodgers. Otis was of the Baptist faith and spent his life working as a farmer and a deck hand in the oil fields.
Otis is survived by two sons, Bob (Jeanna) Rodgers and Jerry (Melisha) Rodgers of Mountain View, Arkansas; two daughters, Leatha (Larry) Fletcher of Timbo, Arkansas and Melba (Roger) Swafford of Mountain View, Arkansas; one brother, Joe Ed Williams of Segraves, Texas; two sisters, Wilma Cathy of Andrews, Texas and Ruth Deer of Lamesa, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ellen Rodgers; sisters, Naoma Williams ,Anjie Williams and Josephine Adams; brothers, Roy Williams and John "Boss" Rodgers; and two grandchildren.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6-8PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 beginning at 10:00AM Elizabeth Baptist Church with Brother John Rodgers and Brother Jim Chandler officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Hill Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Tom Rodgers, Jim Rodgers, Dale Fletcher, Phillip Swafford, Shane Swafford, and John Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Vickers and James Trammell.
