He was born November 28, 1929 in Pender County, the only son of the late Timothy and Mollie Caison Gurganious. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Doris G. Murray and Avie G. English.
Mr. Gurganious was a member of Poston Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mildred Pierce Gurganious of the home; son, Richard Earl Gurganious of Wallace; daughter, Peggy Gurganious Page and husband, Mark, also of Wallace; grandchildren, Brandy Bowen Lundberg and husband, Steve and Wesley Taylor Bowen and fiancé, Danae Kelly; great granddaughter, Molly Reese Lundberg; sister, Nancy Locklear and husband, Eartle of Castle Hayne; his special canine companion, "R.J." and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved Earl dearly.
Earl was a devoted husband and caring daddy, granddaddy and friend. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family. With a kind heart and generous spirit, Earl would give the shirt off his back to those who needed it. When his health permitted, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, neighbors and friends. Earl enjoyed woodworking which included building birdhouses and he loved going to the mountains. He was a sharp and knowledgeable man who loved people and was loved in return. Earl will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Poston Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
