Gary Spence, 58, of Bucyrus passed away unexpectedly on Sunday at his home. Gary was born Nov. 10, 1955 in Iaeger, W. Virginia to the late Jimmie Spence and Geraldine (Walls) Spence who survives in Florida. He was married May 22, 1974 to the former Karen Dunford who survives. In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by one brother Timothy.
Gary is also survived by sons Brent (Melissa) Spence of Bucyrus; Michael Spence of Camp Lejeune, NC; grandchildren Henry and Rowan; brothers Jimmie (Denise) Spence of Marion and Alan (Alison) Spence of Crystal River, FL; uncles David and Bob Spence both of Bucyrus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary retired in 2008 from General Motors after 27 years. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1974 and lived most of his life in Bucyrus. Gary served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1976. He enjoyed fishing and Astronomy.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Gary's favorite charity, the Salvation Army.
