BREWER, Jon A. age 73 of Tipp City, passed away Monday July 14, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center following an illness. Jon was born November 6, 1940 in Wapakoneta, son of the late Paul F. & wife Leona E. (Detjen) Brewer. He was a retired school teacher from the Vandalia Butler City Schools with 31 years of service. Jon was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he was Past President of the Council and a member of the Call committee. He was also a member of the Southern Ohio Senate Council.

Jon was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann Brewer. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Linda; his children David (Karen) Orange, Deborah (Jacob) Steenvoorden, Denise (Kurt) Holtz; grandchildren Chris (Nikki) Orange, Kimmy Orange, Ashley Steenvoorden, Kristen Steenvoorden, Anthony Steenvoorden, Jeremy Steenvoorden, Kyle Holtz, Meghan Holtz, Jessica Holtz; one sister Jane (Charles) Kuhlman; nieces Krista (Tim) Knouff, Karla (Mike) Knepper, and a great-nephew Alyster Knouff.

Funeral services will be held Monday July 21 at 11:00am at the Zion Lutheran Church 14 W. Walnut St. Tipp City with Pastor Tom Heil officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Sunday from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Southern Ohio Synod Ministries 300 S. 2nd St. Columbus, OH 43215, the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or to Dream 4 Pets P.O. Box 1455 Piqua, OH 45356 in Jon's memory.
