Lance was a 1986 graduate of Richmond High School, where he lettered in basketball, track, cross-country, and was a member of the RHS band and choir. Lance was a member of the 1985 State Runner-Up Basketball Team. He attended Anderson College, where he also played basketball. Lance worked at Color Box for nearly 2 years and had formerly worked at Powell Paving.
He loved life and all it had to offer. Lance never wasted a minute of it. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold ‘em, watching Indiana University basketball, and was an Indianapolis Colts fan. Lance also enjoyed NHRA, attending tractor pulls with his brother and dad, NASCAR, and quiet time at home or surrounded by family and friends. Lance loved it all. Lance's motto was "One Life, One Love, Live Long, Live Strong".
Along with his parents, Lance also leaves behind his loving wife, Ann Powell to whom he was married on December 31, 2013. Lance and Ann were high school sweethearts, first true loves, rekindled, and reunited. Other survivors include his sweet precious daughter, Trinity Powell; step-son, Austin "Bubba" Hines; step-daughter, Makalia Moore who will remember Lance as "Big Poppa L"; " little big" brother, Chris (Patty) Powell; maternal grandfather, Woodrow W. Duffin Sr.; in-laws, George and Nancy Hines; brother-in-law, Jason (Kathy Dibling) Hines; nieces, Ashley and Kattie; nephew, Bruce; great-niece, Kennadi; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Bernice Powell and his maternal grandmother, Georgetta P. Duffin.
