Elder Ahijah Warren who was a tanner, the tannery standing where the Shawmut station now stands went west by flatboat and settled at Black River, Wisc., Bathsheba, his wife, dying on the way. The old Warren home stood where the Palace Theatre is at present (N. Union St., Olean, NY). Mr. Arthur Warren of Knapp Creek is a lineal descendant. Ahijah Warren died at the age of 90 and was buried at Davenpot, Iowa.
