Civil War Confederate Army Officer. A Mexican War veteran, he served during the Civil War as Lieutenant Colonel and commander of the 7th Texas Infantry regiment. He was killed in action while leading his troops in the February 15, 1862 Battle of Fort Donelson. His body was brought to Clarksville, Tennessee for burial and later re-interred in Greenwood Cemetery.
