McARTHUR — Howard L. Harper, 79, of McArthur, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born June 24, 1935 in Hamden to the late Clifford Lee Harper and Annabel L. Oberholzer Harper.

Howard was a 1954 graduate of McArthur High School. He was a lifetime farmer and a retired truck driver, retired school bus driver for the Vinton County Schools and just last year, retired from Clinton Twp.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau Federation and enjoyed spending time with his family as well as attending truck and tractor pulls and going to fairs

Howard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Stewart Harper; three children, Deanna (Dean) Robinette of McArthur, Jeff (Rosalie) Harper of Hamden and Becky Trent of Beaver Dam, Ky.; two grandchildren, Dustin (Tricia) Robinette and Derek Trent; two step-grandchildren, Crystal Alfred and Matthew West; three great-grandchildren, Kayden Robinette, Dante and Daisy Trent and soon to be Paige Harper Robinette; three step-great-grandchildren, Jackson and Claire Alfred and Jude Waddell; sister, Gladys Bowman of Sun City Center, Fla.; brother, Richard L. (Lois) Harper of Chillicothe; sister-in-law, Eloise Harper of McArthur, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kristy Harper; granddaughter, Brittany Harper; and his brother, William "Bill" Harper.

Calling hours will be Monday, July 7 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 8 at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Evangelist Patrick Gamp officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
